Hotlinking Protection
What's hotlink protection and how does it work? When do you really need such?
Hotlinking is a largely accepted Internet expression for linking to another website’s images. Quite simply, if you build a website, somebody else may want to use the images that you have and rather than downloading them from your site and then uploading them to their own site, they may simply put links to your Internet site. That way, each time a visitor opens their site, the images will be loaded from your account, consequently stealing from your own monthly traffic quota, along with the copyright issues that may appear or that someone could be trying to deceive people into thinking that they're in fact on your site. In rare situations, documents and other kinds of files can also be linked in the same exact way. To stop this from happening and to avoid such situations, you can enable hotlink protection for your Internet site.

Hotlinking Protection in Cloud Website Hosting
You can easily secure your content if you create an .htaccess file inside the website’s root folder, but in case you do not have previous experience, you could use our hotlink protection tool. The latter comes with all
cloud website hosting plans which we offer and could be accessed using the in-house built Hepsia CP. The protection could be turned on in two basic steps - select the domain or subdomain for the website in question, then pick if our system should create the .htaccess file within the primary folder or inside a subfolder and you will be all set. You don't require any programming skills or any experience with this type of matters, as there shall be nothing else to do. If you'd like to disable the protection at some point, you could see all the sites that are protected in the very same section of the Control Panel with a Delete button beside each of them.
